The "Asociación de Amigos del Ferrocarril de Madrid" (Madrid's Railways' Friends Association) is a group of people that have a common hobby: Trains and railways. This association was founded in 1946.

In the AAFM take place different kind of activities, all related with rails and trains. Each kind of activity is managed by a board of directors that has some specific managers who organize the following areas:

Internal activities:
Any kind of activity that is made inside the association premises as, for example, video or slide projection by the own members, or organization of conferences related with trains. Important people has come to our association, just like the test director of the new AVE 102 trains. These activities are usually carried out in the screening room or in the library.
External activities:
This area has in charge to manage every trip that de Association makes in a official way. This trips includes travels inside or outside Madrid to do tourism or visit any railway interest point. Every trip is made by our own historical train and even in charter or regular ones (in case it's not possible to use ours).

Library:

The AAFM has an extremely big collection of documents and files related with railways, from decades ago to nowadays. This collection is saved and available to members in the premises' library.

Tracción magazine:

One of the external projections of our Association is the railway's magazine "Tracción". In this bulletin are published articles and photos that our members prepare themselves. All the preparation, edition, publishing and selling activities of this magazine is made by the Bulletin manager.
Models:

One of the main AAFM's activities is raiway modelism. To practise it, we have 3 big models in our premises. In those models, members can run their own trains, and even control the rail traffic of them. More than 10 independent tracks are available, divided into H0 (AC and DC), H0e, H0m and N scales. The construction, extension, maintenance and cleaning works are made by the Models' manager and its group of work.

Real trains:
The AAFM preserves and maintains historical trains, all handed over by the Madrid's Raiway Museum. This is, undoubtly, the most important and relevant activity that an association can make in a national and even in a international way. There's a group of work that makes all this activities. This group is formed by voluntary members that every Saturday mornigns go to Fuencarral depots. It's organized by 2 Real Trains managers. Learn more about our historical trains (only in Spanish).

However, more activities are made by our members in our Association freely and with no official organization. This activities could be interchange or photos, collections (pins, badges, old train tickets, etc) and, the most important one: To share a good time in a railfan place.

If you would like to visit us, don't hesitate to come to our social premisses, during the hours of opening.
